Brent is a native New Yorker. His love and respect for the diverse and dynamic people of New York comes from his long family heritage.
Brent's grandfather came to the New York City from Ireland and made his home there, like so many other citizens in the 26th district. In fact, Brent's father was born right in Woodside. The O’Leary family understood the value of hard work, a strong community, support for local business and organizations, and lending neighbors a helping hand.
District 26 deserves its City Council member to operate under three basic principles:
- Listening
- Transparency
- Action
Before we move forward it is important to listen to what our friends and neighbors really want and need in our community.
Every policy and plan that is made by our representatives should be fully shared with the people. After all, our government is supposed to be working FOR us!
At the end of the day, big talk and fancy plans are not enough, our representatives need to make sure they can put talk in to action.
Our district faces real challenges:
Energy costs are rising, at the same time that city services and transportation costs are increasing.
Development in this district is moving at a breakneck pace, but we need infrastructure and long range planning to keep pace with new building projects.
Brent O'Leary understands these challenges. His work in business and in the law will be an asset in making sure that our district is strongly represented at City Hall.
